3️⃣ BeamNG.tech Platinum Sponsor at ICST 2025
We’re excited to announce that BeamNG is a Platinum Sponsor of the upcoming ICST 2025 – International Conference on Software Testing, Verification, and Validation, taking place in Naples, Italy during 31 March - 4 April 2025.
ICST serves as a premier global platform, bringing together researchers, engineers, and industry professionals to explore the latest advancements and best practices in software testing, verification, and validation.
As part of our sponsorship, we are thrilled to contribute to the conference program by hosting a Hands-on Tutorial on Scenario-based Testing with BeamNG.tech. This session will be delivered by Chrysanthi Papamichail (Lead Research Software Engineer at BeamNG GmbH) & Alessio Gambi (Scientist at the AIT Austrian Institute of Technology). The tutorial will provide practical insights into leveraging BeamNG.tech for scenario-based testing, offering attendees a unique opportunity to explore cutting-edge simulation techniques for software testing and validation.
Stay tuned for more details, and we look forward to seeing you at ICST 2025!
4️⃣ Groundbreaking Research on Crash Simulation
Crash safety barriers, such as the tyre barrier systems used in Formula One racetracks, are critical safety measures on public roadways and in motorsports. This paper introduces a novel application of BeamNG’s unique soft-body physics simulation method for crashworthiness analysis, comparing it with the popular finite element (FE) simulation method and physical crash tests. The study reveals that both BeamNG’s soft-body physics simulation and the FE method demonstrated a close correlation with physical crash tests. While the FE method exhibited higher accuracy, the soft-body physics model offered superior computational efficiency, making it particularly suitable for simulating a variety of crash configurations. The research concludes that although FE simulation remains a mainstay for crash simulations, BeamNG’s soft-body physics simulation presents a promising alternative for diverse crash analysis scenarios due to its efficiency and versatility.
